That's great! Congratulations David, I'm a lurker in your group, my father and I are learning Scala/Lift. I think you and the rest of the group are doing a fantastic job
Any chance there is a lift book coming out? Really excited by the framework!
In a word, yes.
In a few more words, an announcement will happen next week.
Congratulations, DPP! We're definitely drinking wine with those steak-frites, so I can raise a toast. It's inspiring to see how you've persisted at this. Looking forward to the Scala book, too.
Congrats, David and the rest of the team!
I have been aware of the existence of Lift for a while now - but I have never been able to understand the purpose of the "Lift Demo". When you open the demo, the menus on the left seems to be a list of features. But clicking on those links do not lead to pages where you can see how those features can be implemented in Lift. Overall, you get thrown into this app with little guidance on what is happening. DHH's video, IMO, did a great job of introducing Rails to developers. Is there a similar video demonstrating the basic functionality of Lift? I think this was mentioned in Scala Liftoff meetup, but was one such video done?
Congratulations to you and the rest of the team.
I'm learning Scala at the moment and I've been following the Lift website for a few months now. I can't wait to create a real project with it.
The Best! Congratulations. I'm think project is interesting idea.
I'm very interested in learning more about Lift, and I just started following along with the Starting With Lift tutorial available from the liftweb.net site. However, I ran into the issue documented here:
https://lampsvn.epfl.ch/trac/scala/ticket/715 Do you know if there is any current fix for the issue, or if there is active work being done to resolve the ticket? Thanks.
I'm having dinner with Martin next week. I'll refuse to buy him beers until he agrees to fix defect #715. How does that sound?
Sounds fantastic.
Good luck with the continued development of Lift, and I look forward to both your Scala book and the forthcoming Lift book.
Any reason why the Lift site has been down for days?
http://www.liftweb.net/ ERROR 403 FORBIDDEN It doesn't look that good to have a downed site when you're trying to promote the platform!
Our server was being DoSed. You can read about the issue on the Scala and Lift lists. We were serving 100mbps of data before we had to shut the server down and take counter-measures. I was on vacation and did what I could to bring the site back online (http://liftweb.net was down for 24 hours.)
